A1: No. There is no need to disable Lockdown Plus PC in
this case.
Q2: Will some third-party file management
tools (such as ZTreeWin) see the objects hidden by Lockdown
Plus PC?
A2: Absolutely Not! The protection mechanism of Lockdown
Plus PC is build on system kernel level, it's unbreakable.
Q3: Can I hide everything with Lockdown
Plus PC?
A3: No. Critical system files can't be hidden or blocked,
or Windows won't boot correctly next time. Though Lockdown Plus
PC checks whether an object can be protected or not and will give
warning message, but users should be aware of this.
Q4: What will happen if Lockdown Plus PC
crashes or someone terminates the program?
A4: The security kernel of Lockdown Plus PC is loaded and
take effects almost as soon as Windows is started. What users
see is just a GUI not the security kernel. Terminating the GUI
process has no effects on security the protected objects.
Q5: I have unlocked/unprotected an object,
but still can't see it in the Windows Explorer?
A5: Press F5 in Windows Explorer to refresh the display.
Q6: I hide an object, but still can see
the it in Windows Explorer. Why?
A6: The objects have been protected actually, just press
F5 in Windows Explorer to refresh the display.
Q7: Does Lockdown Plus PC works under DOS
mode?
A7: Lockdown Plus PC works under DOS frame, but doesn't
work under TRUE DOS mode.
Q8: What is the uninstallation password?
A8: The password for uninstalling Lockdown Plus PC is the
same as the one used to startup Lockdown Plus PC.
Q9: I forgot my password. Will the hidden
files lost? How to find them back in this case?
A9: The hidden files WON'T be lost, but you will have to
reinstall Windows to find them back.
Q10: How to protect group of files and folders
easily and quickly?
A10: Use wild-cards! Lockdown Plus PC supports the "?"
and "*" wild-cards:
The ? symbol substitues one single character
The * symbol substitues everything, including nothing.
Examples:
1. c:\mydocs\*.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs
2. c:\mydocs\a*.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs
which name starting with character "a"
3. c:\mydocs\???.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs
which name has exactly three characters
Q11: How can I share a list of files and
folders among different accounts?
A11: Share of files and folder among different accounts
is controlled by the Admin. For example, there exist three accounts:
john, smith, and jack. Now you can follow steps below to share
'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' among them:
Step 1: Log on to the Lockdown Plus PC program with the Admin
account.
Step 2: Add 'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' to the protection list.
Step 3: Select 'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' from the protection
list.
Step 4: Click the toolbar button 'Share', check john, smith, and
jack from the list of the popup dialog, then click 'OK'.
Q12: What if I forget my logon password?
A12: Please contact your administrator to reset it or create
a new password for you.

Q14: Will backup programs or the Norton
Ghost back up objects which protected with Lockdown Plus PC?
A14: When Lockdown Plus PC is in effect, objects with "No
Access" and sometimes "Invisibility" protection,
depending on the backup program, will not be accessed by the backup
program. So before backup please "Disable Lockdown Plus PC"
first, and it is always a good idea to test the backed up files.
Q15: Can I use Lockdown Plus PC to protect
folders on the CDROM disc or removable drives, such as USB flash
stick.
A15: Lockdown Plus PC can restrict use of Floppy, CDROM,
and removable drives. However, it can NOT protect folders on them.
That's, if connected to other computes all files and folders on
them will be totally accessible.
Q16: How many licenses should I buy if
I want to use Lockdown Plus PC in serveral computers?
A2: Lockdown Plus PC is licensed on per-user basis for
individual users and is licensed on per-computer basis for entity
users. That's, if you are an individual end-user, with one single
user license you can install and use Lockdown Plus PC in any numbers
of computers. If you are an organization or company, you will
need to buy license code for each computer.
