A1: No - there's no need to do anything to Lockdown Plus PC before defragmenting your hard disk.
Q2: Will third-party file management tools such as ZTreeWin see the objects hidden by Folder Security Personal?
A2: Absolutely not - the protection mechanism behind Lockdown Plus PC is built on the system kernel level and so is unbreakable!
Q3: Can I hide everything with Lockdown Plus PC?
A3: No - critical system files can't be hidden or blocked. Though Lockdown Plus PC checks all objects before protecting them, users should be aware that attempting to encrypt core items may cause Windows to boot incorrectly.
Q4: What will happen if Lockdown Plus PC crashes, or if someone terminates it?
A4: The software's security kernel is loaded and take effects almost as soon as Windows is started, which means that users see a GUI - not the kernel itself. Terminating the GUI has no effect on the protection level enforced.
Q5: I've unlocked/unprotected an object, but still can't see it in Windows Explorer: what should I do?
A5: Press F5 in Windows Explorer to refresh its display.

Q8: What's the uninstall password?
A8: It's identical to your Lockdown Plus PC startup password.
Q9: I've forgotten my password - will my hidden files be lost?
A9: The hidden files won't be lost, but if you're not a registered user you'll have to reinstall Windows to get them back. Registered users can contact our Technical Support Team for instructions on how to reset their login password.
Q10: How can I protect a group of files and folders quickly and easily?
A10: Use wild-cards! Lockdown Plus PC supports the '?' and '*' wild-cards:
The '?' symbol substitutes one, single character.
The '*' symbol substitutes everything - including nothing.
Examples:
1. c:\mydocs\*.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs
2. c:\mydocs\a*.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs whose names begin with the 'a' character
3. c:\mydocs\???.doc <=> all .doc files in the folder c:\mydocs whose names contain exactly three characters
Q11: How can I share a list of files and folders with different accounts?
A11: Sharing files and folder with different accounts is controlled by the Administrator. Consider the following example: there are three accounts [John, Smith and Jack] who want to share 'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' with one another. To do this:

Step 2: Add 'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' to the protection list.
Step 3: Select 'c:\folder1' and 'c:\folder2' from the protection list
Step 4: Click the 'Share' button, then check 'John', 'Smith' and 'Jack' from the dialog box and press' OK'

Q14: Can backup programs such as Norton Ghost backup objects which have been protected with Lockdown Plus PC?
A14: Backup programs won't be able to access files and folders which have been locked with Lockdown Plus PC's 'No Access' and 'Invisibility' protection, so before backing up be sure to use the 'Disable Lockdown Plus PC' command to disable the protection. You may also wish to consider manually checking your backups as a precautionary measure.
Q15: Can I use Lockdown Plus PC to protect folders on a CD or removable drive such as a USB stick?
A15: Lockdown Plus PC can restrict the use of floppies, CD-ROMs and removable drives, but it can't protect folders on them. If you connect one of these media devices to another computer, all of their files and folders will be completely accessible.
Q16: How many licenses should I buy if I want to use Lockdown Plus PC on several computers?
A2: Lockdown Plus PC is licensed on per-user basis for individual users, and on a per-computer basis for enterprise users. If you're an individual end-user, one single user license will allow you to use the software on any number of computers, but if you're an organization or company you'll need to buy a separate license for every machine you install onto.
